6 Week Women's Intro to BJJ Course starting April 16th
Six week introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, open to women ages 14+ The class will meet Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm at our SLO- Foothill location. 872 Foothill Blvd (inside Club24). The start date is Tuesday April 16th and the class will be about an hour long. You don't need a gi(uniform) and can just wear comfortable workout clothes such as leggings/pants and a top with a high cut neckline.
The goal of the class is to get familiar with the basics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and basic self defense. Additionally this will be a great way to get comfortable in a smaller group setting before transitioning into our regular ongoing classes. The class will be led by female instructors.
If you have ever been curious about starting Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but too nervous or intimidated to start, this class is perfect! Small group, multiple instructors, any fitness level is welcome.
The cost of the course is $200. We need a minimum of 10 signs ups to host the course and we will let you know when we meet that! Please email paragonslo@sbcglobal.net to sign up.
Free Women's Self Defense Seminar March 16th
Join Paragon Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a self-defense workshop on Saturday, March 16th, from 9-10:30am at the Paragon location in San Luis Obispo on Foothill BLVD (872 Foothill, inside club24)!
This event is open to females 12 and over! Please RSVP to paragonslo@sbcglobal.net so we can ensure we have enough instructors on hand.
Self-Defense portion will cover:
Wrist Releases
Bear hug defense
Striking and striking defense defense
Wall work
Basic groundwork
For individuals not comfortable physically interacting with community members they don't know, we strongly recommended bringing a partner you feel comfortable with! Participants should wear comfortable athletic clothing and bring water. Something with sleeves is preferred since we will be on the mat during portions of the class.
The event is free, but we will be accepting donations for Lumina Alliance! Lumina Alliance is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created by the merging of RISE and Stand Strong in July 2021. Their mission is to empower those impacted by sexual and intimate partner violence through innovative advocacy, healing, and prevention programs. Services include 24/7 crisis and information line, case management, restraining order assistance, legal assistance, accompaniment and advocacy, emergency shelters, transitional housing, individual and group therapy, and robust prevention education. 15 Year Anniversary Celebration
Join us in Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of Paragon SLO – Tank Farm! Our actual anniversary date is February 1 but we will be celebrating on Sunday February 4th.
We have two fun events planned for the day. Firstly, Ricardo "Franjinha" Miller will be hosting a BJJ seminar at 11 am at our Tank Farm location. The seminar is open to all adults and the cost is $40. No RSVP necessary. Open mat after the seminar. For those of you that don't know, Franjinha is the founder of Paragon and also who awarded Chris his black belt.
After the seminar, Paragon will host a family-friendly party at 1pm at Oak & Otter Brewing. Everyone is welcome to attend. Paragon will provide light appetizers, and additional food and beverages will be available for purchase. 181 Tank Farm Rd.

Paragon Dec 2023 Holiday Schedule
Paragon SLO - Foothill coming soon!
The Lovato's (Chris and Mallory) are excited to announce that we will be opening an additional Paragon location in Jan 2024. It will be located inside Club 24 on Foothill Blvd in SLO. The Tank Farm location will remain open. Chris and Mallory will be heading up most of the classes at the new location and we will post schedule details as soon as we can. Our members will have access to the showers and locker rooms and our mat room but not use of the gym. If you wish to use the gym you can sign up for membership through Club 24.
If you've been to any of our SLO classes the past year you can see that we have been growing and our mat has been very crowded. We hope that this alleviates some of that as well as give our Cal Poly students an easier option to make it in as we know many rely on carpooling, public transportation and biking to get to our Tank Farm location currently.
We can't wait to share more info as we progress with construction. We have been working on this project since March (and talking about it since 2010) so it feels pretty amazing to see it start to physically come together. We also can't wait to help more people get started on their Jiu Jitsu journey.

Evan Wick Takedown Seminar
Don't miss this opportunity to improve your takedowns with Evan Wick! Assistant Cal Poly wrestling coach, and 4x Division 1 All American wrestler!
The takedown clinic will take place on Sunday August 20th at 3pm at our Paragon SLO location. RSVP at paragonslo@sbcglobal.net, we anticipate space will fill up quickly. Open to everyone ages 16+ Wrestling shoes are optional (if you wear wrestling shoes please clean them prior to attending). Please bring $25 cash. Clinic length will be about 1.5 hours. Minors must have a parent sign a release prior to participating.
